Petzl counterfeits and their recalled lanyards

    I think most of you heard about the counterfeit Petzl ascenders and carabiners being made in China earlier this year. Knockoffs could happen to any company and I'm glad they took an aggressive role in exposing it to keep us safe.These could open or otherwise fail at low load and under normal use.

    It's just another reason to buy your safety equipment from an authorized and reputable dealer.

    But recently they were embarrassed by their QC when they announced a recall on some of their shock absorbing lanyards.

    They said some of the lanyards are missing a safety stitch on the attachment loop, which can cause the lanyard to disconnect from the climbing harness.
